WHAT IS EXCESS BAGGAGE SHIPPING?

Britannia Movers International offers a self-pack option for exporting your personal belongings abroad. Depending on your budget and final destination Britannia can offer a sea, air and road service.

Our excess baggage shipping service is ideal for clients who wish to send essential items in advance of their main consignment or for returning expats returning home after a short stint in the United Kingdom. Britannia Movers International will supply all packing materials and will also offer a collection and delivery service throughout the majority of the UK.

Britannia Movers offers a full door-to-door service to all major destinations. We can also offer the option of a door-to-handout service. This service is ideal if you have not secured permanent accommodation at your final destination. 

Britannia Shipping provide a shipping service with packing materials provided.

HOW LONG DOES THE SHIPPING SERVICE TAKE?

This is dependent on your final destination and method of travel. In general we say airfreight consignments take on average 7-14 working days from door-to-door. This is inclusive of formal government border clearances.

Sea freight consignments travel by way of a part load or groupage service. Standard transit times to countries such as Australia, New Zealand or South Africa take on average 8-10 weeks with a further 2 weeks for clearance through formal government channels and for onward delivery to take place.

European road freight is dependent on the frequency of Britannia vehicles heading to the continent. An average for this service is 7-14 working days however can be quicker at certain times of the year. For further information about this service please talk to your Britannia representative.

Your shipping quote will provide you with information relating to the type of service, transit insurance, total volume and type of cartons, customs and quarantine related information and overall price for the move.

Britannia Movers excludes customs duties, taxes, storage and storage handling, agriculture and quarantine inspection or fumigation fees (if ordered). Split or abnormal deliveries including delivery above the ground floor. Handling of heavy items such as (but not restricted to) tool chests and crates requiring additional manpower or equipment. Assembly of modular or flat packed furniture and any other third party services.

INSURANCE

Britannia Movers is able to provide Marine Transit Cover for the protection of your personal belongings whilst in transit and in storage. Britannia is proud to offer two levels of cover; Superior and Standard Cover.

Superior Cover will cover you for most risks of physical loss and or damage to your belongings.

Standard Cover will protect you for loss, theft and damage only.

CAN BRITANNIA PROVIDE STORAGE?

If you are planning on travelling before arriving at your destination, Britannia will do its utmost to ensure your belongings arrive at your preferred time. We can provide storage either in the UK at one of our nationwide depots or at your destination of choice. All Britannia depots have 24 hour CCTV security monitoring to ensure your personal effects are kept safe and secure.

Please be aware certain countries require you to arrive prior to your personal effect consignments for pre-government clearances. These countries include the USA, Canada and South Africa. For further information please see our Customs Information page.
